Weird things I do in the bathroom
Oh, cool your jets - nothing icky. I was in the bathroom last night and I once again realized I do some strange things. To wit:
When I brush my teeth, I always lift my left leg. I don't know why. It's not an unconscious thing, either - I'm perfectly aware that I'm doing it, and I can brush my teeth without doing it, I just feel uncomfortable. This limits my mobility when I'm brushing my teeth. Krys, conversely, does not seem able to stand still while she's brushing. We tend to brush our teeth at different times because it becomes an issue when we're doing it at the same time. We have a small bathroom.
When I am rinsing my mouth after brushing and mouthwashing, I take a little paper cup, fill it with water, take a swig, pour the rest out, and then refill it and take another swig. I don't know why I do this. The remaining water from the first time I fill it is perfectly good water. The water I refill the cup with doesn't taste any differently. This is something I do automatically - occasionally I stop myself and drink the rest of the water, but although it tastes the same, it feels really weird. Most of the time I do it before I even think about it, and then think to myself, "Why do I always do that?"
Anyway, those are some weird things I do in the bathroom. Hey, it's 6 o'clock in the morning and I'm trying to wake up. This is what you get.

Sometimes, you're just plain peculiar. No wonder Mr. Horse Racing system likes you.
Who are these comment-spamming jerks? I hate them. And I'm sick of it. How do they do that? Don't they realize they just make people hate them?
Speaking of strange behavior, Stoker was telling me that when he was little he had a wart on his left palm (it's gone now) and when he was learning left and right, he used to touch the wart with his middle finger to remember that it was left. He still does it, even though he knows which hand is left. If someone tells him, "Turn left here," he finds himself touching the palm of his left hand with his middle finger.
I, on the other hand, am completely boring.
Ms. Aries - that is excellent. We all do strange things. I really don't know why I stand on one foot. I haven't always done it - I think I started it in college. Weird.
Aaahhh, the wierd behavior we pick up in college. I remember an evening at Zeno's where I re-learned something that still sticks with me today. I believe it stems from holding a blanket while sucking on your thumb. My re-discovery so many years later (on a porter pitcher special night, if I remember correctly) is that rubbing ones finger up and down from the bottom of the nose to the top of the lip has a calming effect. I had an entire bar full of college students doing this. The majority agreed, this is soothing.
So, if I find myself getting riled up at work or in public, it looks like I scratch my nose a lot. Of course, I am just saving those around me from mindless violence.
note: you do not have to be sucking your thumb to accomplish this act... but, sometimes, I just do it for the hell of it.
