Alice Cooper is a good DJ
Yes, DJ. Alice Cooper does a radio show here in the Basin (I guess it's syndicated nationally, but he lives here), and I like listening to him because he plays some interesting music that you usually don't hear on the radio. Or, at least, I don't usually hear it on the radio because I don't often listen to the radio. Tonight I was only in the car for a few minutes, and he played Bob Seger's "Get Out Of Denver," which I had never heard before but loved. I'm not a huge Seger fan, but this is a cool song. He followed it up with a funky disco-like tune. Have you ever listened to a song on the radio and you find yourself singing some of the lyrics because you know you've heard the song before but you can't remember what the song is or who sings it? I was singing along to this song that Alice spun, but I couldn't remember what it was! Then, just before the chorus gave it away, I recalled that it was the Kinks singing "Superman." Man, I like that song, but I hadn't heard it in probably 15 years. Then I got home so I stopped listening to the radio. But whenever I listen to Alice, he plays cool stuff like that. Plus, he's always telling interesting stories about his life in rock and roll. So yes, he's a good DJ. I don't know where he's on in the country, but check him out if he's in your area.

I haven't listened regularly to the radio for a long time, due to the awfulness of most DJs and the corporate-approved music nearly ever station in the country plays now. Just the mp3 player in the car for me. Sounds like I'd like to listen to the Alice Cooper show, though.
Bob Dylan's got an XM radio show where he plays everything from LL Cool J to long-lost blues tracks from the '30s. A terrific antidote to the radio that tom describes.
I should probably get XM. I'm just not in the car that often, and that's when I listen to music. I've heard several good things about Dylan's show, though.
The cool thing about Alice is that he plays songs that aren't necessarily popular. I never understood why, even on "classic" radio stations, DJs always play the singles. You have access to every track - why not play them? "Classic" rock aficianados usually own albums, after all, so they know the songs.
alice (Visconti) aka Carla Bissi sings a beatiful version of the song "Carthago".
google it!
