Update on my resolution
I forgot to do this last month, because it was about the time my computer crashed, but there's nothing to report. I weighed in this morning at 221 pounds, which is the same I weighed last month but two pounds more than I weighed at the beginning of February. Sigh. Every time I have a few good days, we have a bad day and get fast food or I have a big bottle of Dr. Pepper. So I lose a few pounds, gain a few pounds. Double sigh. I'll keep trying, especially because the ENT I went to last week told me that the way I can stop snoring is to (shocking news here!) lose weight. Thanks, Doc. You went to medical school for that?

Forgive me if you've already answered this question somewhere, but are you exercising regularly (at least 3 times a week)? Anytime I have set myself to lose weight throughout the years, I've always found that changing my diet made a difference to my health, but it was never the thing that dropped the weight. Exercise has always been the key, and cardio vascular exercise in particular. I have always been floored by the difference in my results once I start exercising and not just watching my diet.
You need to be exercising continuously for at least 12 minutes for it to be considered cardio vascular and it's the part you do AFTER the 12 minute mark that is of most benefit, which is why the experts say exercise sessions should last at least 20min.
Good luck with the goal!! I heard this brilliant affirmation a few months back: "Nothing tastes as good as fit and healthy feels." It's so true.
I try to ride my bike, but the children make it difficult. I know I should exercise more, but the only exercise I really like to do is ride my bike (and play soccer, when I have the chance), so I don't do it as often as I should. You're right, though - exercise is key. I'm working on it!
