Update on my resolution

I knew July would be a bad month. I weighed 221 pounds this morning, meaning I gained six (!) pounds in July. I have reasons, although they're lousy ones. The good news is that the kids' schedules seem to have stabilized somewhat so we can plan meals better and the heat seems to have broken a tiny bit so I can be more active. I can still reach 200 pounds this year, which was my goal, so we'll see if August is any better. Sigh. It's awfully easy to gain weight. Why can't it be that easy to lose it?

Well, sir, I'm going to go back to what worked earlier in the year. I'm trying to exercise more (which, in this heat, means swimming, but when it cools down I'll be back to riding my bike), I'm eating smaller portions (shocking!), and for breakfast I have high fiber cereals with rice milk (this is for my high cholesterol), a sandwich at lunch, and no carbs at dinner - we eat late, and pasta at eight o'clock is bad. So I eat a salad with grilled chicken in it or something like that - protein at night is good. More fruit. More water. It's very simple, but sticking to it - that's the fun part. I lost 21 pounds in the first five months of the year, so I can do it. We'll see how August shakes out.

Yeah, I saw that. Luckily, I'm not on it. I eat carbs, just not after about seven o'clock at night. Prior to that - all bets are off!
