The Metropolitan Museum of Art opens in New York.
That's the best I have. Sorry. I could have told you about Tyrolean patriots and the deaths of obscure Austrian emperors, but this is more interesting. The Met is cool. Go visit it now. Make your travel plans today!

I'm a-goin' there tomorrow. It's "Give-Kids-a-Meaningless-Vacation-in-the Middle-of-Winter" week here in NYC, so part of the program is marching the kids down to the Met and taking in some art. There are family programs going on, so aside from the knights in armor and various impressionists there will be something more directed to do.
Plus the Met lets you pay a "Suggested Donation" of $12, but I have my own suggestion, and it usually comes to about $2 per hour I plan to be at the museum.
Cheap culture, you can't beat it!
That's what's cool about living in New York. Hey, kids - field trip! Let's go to a kick-ass art museum!
Tell them Happy Birthday!
I love the Met!
Anyway, what's with John Glenn, James I., King of Scotland, Edvard VI., King of England, and what's with American Samoa? ... All those could have been mentioned in your Feb. 20th entry... You're slacking! ;)
I don't know what's going on with American Samoa! As for the others, I just didn't think they were noteworthy. The Met is very cool, after all.
